Midfielders Jak McCourt and Matt Taylor will both miss Tuesday night’s trip to Peterborough through suspension.
McCourt serves a one-match ban following his sending off against Millwall on Saturday while Taylor sits out the second match of his three-game ban.
“It gives other people in the squad an opportunity,” said boss Rob Page.
“Joel Byrom has had limited game time but because of the way we look after the players I’m confident that he would be okay if we decide to select him.
“We’ve got players in the group who are raring to go and whichever way we decide to go I’m confident the players who come in will grab the opportunity with both hands.
“I was very impressed with Marc Richards on Saturday but I wasn’t surprised. He doesn’t sit and sulk when he’s not in the team, he just gets on with it and when he does get the opportunity he always gives a good account of himself.
“We will have a look at it but whatever team we put out I can assure the supporters will be ready and whoever comes in it is up to them to stake a claim for the jersey.”
