PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED FOR HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTRE

16 December 2014

Chairman thanks Borough Council for their support

Northampton Town Football Club are delighted that planning permission was granted on Tuesday evening by Northampton Borough Council for the club's conference centre and a 100 bed hotel as well as giving the go ahead to 255 homes and a small number of retail units on land surrounding Sixfields Stadium.

"David Mackintosh and all at Northampton Borough Council have been very supportive of the club throughout this process and we are pleased to welcome the granting of planning permission," said Chairman David Cardoza.

"This is an important part of the process that will allow the club to move forward and progress by improving the facilities at the stadium.

"We are putting foundations in place now to ensure a bright and successful future for Northampton Town and we have a Borough Council who recognise the value the club brings to the town.

"The hotel and conference centre are crucial because they give the club income streams outside of the ups and downs of football and that is vital to the progression of the club."

Councillor David Mackintosh, Leader of Northampton Borough Council said: “I am pleased to see the plans have been approved, as the redevelopment of Sixfields Stadium is essential to the club. Modernising the ground to bring in more corporate and commercial facilities will help ensure the Football Club can maximise revenue and operate as a business all year round. This additional funding can only help provide a sound financial base for the club to work from.”
