Cobblers boss Rob Page rued the defending of his team as he reflected on Tuesday night’s defeat at Peterborough.
“We were 2-0 down at half-time because of two set-pieces and you can’t give away silly goals like that,” he said.
“The formation had nothing to do with the two goals, I thought we’d weathered the storm and we were disciplined in our defending but to give away two goals from set-pieces is extremely frustrating.
“We are hurting right now and there is nobody more frustrated than me after that performance. I thought the fans were terrific and I’d like to apologise to them.
“I thought we had the better of the second half but you need to take your chances.
“We are going through a bit of a tricky time at the minute but we will keep working extremely hard on the training ground to put things right.”
