A deal to enable the redevelopment of land around Sixfields was passed by councillors on Wednesday evening.
This will see the council, the Government's Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Northampton Town Football Club move forward with plans for the redevelopment of a large piece of land, stretching from the football club up to Weedon Road. Chairman David Cardoza is delighted with the news
"This has effectively put in place the structure for re-developing Sixfields," he said.
"That's massively important and it's the big step that we needed to take.
"We can now look at what can actually go on the site.
"It's very exciting times, hugely important for the future of the football club and something we've obviously been working extremely hard on for several years."
