Peterborough United provided the opposition for the Cobblers first home pre-season friendly as the build up to the 2013/14 league season continued.

Boss Aidy Boothroyd included two new trialists in his starting eleven in the form of defender Kevin Amankwaah and striker Liam Dickinson.

Wearing the new home kit for the first time, the Cobblers players looked resplendent as the game kicked off under cloudy Sixfields skies.

Liam Dickinson went close early on but his dipping volley from 25-yards was narrowly off-target. Matt Duke made a good save down low to deny Lee Tomlin in the first real chance for Posh.

Dickinson had to be replaced on 21 minutes with fellow trialist JJ Hooper taking his place.

A diving header from Tyrone Barnett went wide while for the Cobblers, Hooper saw a shot saved by Bobby Olejnik.

Claudio Dias and David Moyo came on for the second half in place of Ishmel Demontagnac and Lewis Hornby.

A shot on the turn from Emile Sinclair on 56 minutes was comfortably saved by Matt Duke.

Tyrone Barnett gave Peterborough the lead on 66 minutes, his low shot finding it’s way into the back of the net via the inside of the far post.

As the Cobblers looked to respond, a drilled shot from David Moyo was deflected behind. Ian Morris had a shot well saved before Moyo went close with a header.

That was the final chance of what was a decent pre-season work out for the Cobblers.
