The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v Wycombe Wanderers
Chris Wilder talking after the final day defeat at home to Wycombe.
“We’ve improved on last season but we’ve got a lot of work to do in the summer,” he said.
“We’ve scored enough goals and we’ve been really positive going forward this season but defensively we’ve not shown the right mentality.
“We need to get that mentality into the players and we’ve got a lot of hard work to do on the training ground.
“We’ve not been good enough in key moments this season, defensively we’ve not been good enough and the goals against column is the reason why we haven’t made the play-offs.
“I don’t think there will be massive changes in the summer but we need to make sure that we get our recruitment right. We need to strengthen in key areas and we need to have more energy coming off the bench.
“The supporters were first class again today as they have been all season. They really got behind the team in the second half and we want to give them some better days next season.”
