Cobblers boss Chris Wilder is hoping to have Marc Richards back available for Tuesday night’s game against Portsmouth.

“We’ve assessed Marc’s injury and hopefully he should be fit for the Portsmouth game,” he said.

“He’s got a bit of a sore achilles but it’s nothing too serious.

“He possibly could have played on Saturday but we’d have run the risk of losing him for a few games so we made the decision to give him a few extra days rest.

“If Marc’s not ready then we’ve got no problem with playing Ivan who was outstanding on Saturday.

“Physically he took a bit of a battering but he gave as good as he got and when the ball was in and around him he was excellent.”
