The Cobblers boss on Northampton Town v Exeter City
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder said his side can and must do a lot better after the win against Exeter.
“I think 3-0 flattered us today to be honest,” he said.
“The difference was in both boxes and I didn’t think that was a 3-0 game today at all.
“Adam Smith made some great saves and but for the bounce of the ball and some more clinical finishing Exeter could have easily got a result here today.
“We scored three cracking goals but I thought we were well off it today and I’m not going to gloss over anything.
“Tuesday night was fantastic and we were first class but I didn’t think we were as good, with or without the ball today and our energy levels were off.
“It’s a new team and we are still learning, it’s a 3-0 win and we are grateful for that but we need to be better.”
Chris Wilder also confirmed that Zander Diamond (tight groin) was taken off at half-time as a precaution.
