Winger Ricky Holmes (knee) has been ruled out of Tuesday night’s game against Carlisle.

“Ricky is going for a scan on Tuesday and we should know more then,” said boss Chris Wilder.

“The initial assessment from the physio is that it might be a meniscus injury and if that’s the case he would need a minor operation which could rule him out for four to six weeks.

“We’ve had two major setbacks now losing Marc Richards and Ricky but hopefully the results from his scan won’t be too severe.

“Ivan Toney got a big knock on Saturday and that’s why he wasn’t getting about the pitch as he normally does but he will be okay.

“Joel Byrom is back from suspension but Darren Carter has done really well in the last two games so there is a decision to be made there.

“Joel has been first class for us and it’s a difficult call but these are the decisions that you have to make as a manager.”
