MASCOT GEORGE HAD A GREAT DAY

27 February 2015

Club delighted to receive email from a happy father!

We were delighted to receive the below email from Mr Ian Puckey, after his son George was a mascot at the York City game:

Dear Julia, and everyone else at Northampton Town.

I just had to write to thank you for giving my son, in his words, "the best day of my life".

George was one of the mascots on Saturday and from the moment we arrived he was made to feel the centre of attention. Phil the mascot rep was fantastic; putting George at ease throughout, and making sure we knew the schedule. When the boys visited the dressing room, the players were brilliant; they were so patient with signing autographs and having photos taken. Chris Wilder was so welcoming as well - it was hard to believe he had a game to worry about!

So many other things combined to make his day perfect: Chris Hackett promising to do his best to get George three points - then scoring after 4 minutes! George walking out with Brendon Maloney, who went on to score and win Man of The Match. Ivan Toney netting the third (George has a photo on his wall of the time he met Ivan after the Exeter game in August). All of these together made George feel that the whole day was built around him!!

My dad has been a Cobblers fan for over 60 years, I have followed the club for thirty-five years, George is into his second year of being a Cobbler. My dad watched their season in the top flight, I have seen the highs and lows at Wembley, watched my club as it stared at administration and relegation from the league on more than one occasion.

Although football clubs are businesses, fans are not ordinary customers. Our hopes and happiness are invested, along with our money. It was wonderful to see a club that understood that. When you are a fan, you support your club unconditionally; you never expect the club to repay that support, in the way that NTFC repaid us on Saturday.

Thanks again

Kind regards

Ian Puckey

(George's dad!)

p.s. Thanks also to John-Joe O'Toole for presenting my dad with his birthday card - it really made his day complete.
