UNDER 14S ACADEMY TOUR, DAY ONE

9 April 2015

Academy updates from Barcelona

An early start saw the Northampton Town Academy 2000’s squad gather at Birmingham airport to embark on their five day tour of Barcelona which would see them compete in the Football Cup Barcelona against teams from all over the world.

Following an extended flight (thanks to our French air traffic control friends) the boys were greeted at Barcelona airport before making the short trip to the Nou Camp, home of FC Barcelona. Upon arrival the boys were stunned by the size and aura that surrounds such an iconic stadium. The tour saw the boys visit the impressive museum displaying the vast amount of trophies collected over the years, the dressing room following in the footsteps of such greats as Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and many more, before making the way out to the pitch itself. It is fair to say, both players and staff alike were taken back by the breathtaking views we’ve all experienced when climbing up a set of stadia steps to be greeted by the impressive grass and thousands of seats which resembled that of a colleseum!

After the tour the boys headed to their hotel, the Best Maritim Cambrils which is situated on the beach. Not long after arriving it was down into the pool to unwind, before a tournament of head tennis followed by dinner and an evening at the pool table!

Tomorrow the boys will be visiting the beach, along with planning and preparing for Saturday which sees us take on Peli-Karhut White from Finland, Union Saint Giloise from Belgium and FB Strikers from Saudi Arabia in the qualifying group stages of the tournament.
