Chris Wilder on Northampton Town v Newport County
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder reflecting on the 3-0 home win over Newport.
“I’m delighted with the efforts of everybody,” he said.
“It was another excellent performance, against a good side, everybody contributed and we feel it’s a deserved result.
“We want to start games quickly and get after teams here and we’ve done that again today.
“Newport showed a reaction in the second half as you’d expect but Matt Duke didn’t really have much to do, we defended well and looked a threat going forward.
“For 35 minutes in the first half we were outstanding, we created chances, drove the game forward and I think that’s the best football we’ve played in a long time.
"John-Joe was excellent again, but he has had a minor groin injury this week and we took him off as a precaution."
