ALAN KNILL ON THE VISIT OF OXFORD UNITED

21 October 2014

The Cobblers assistant boss ahead of Northampton Town v Oxford United

Cobblers assistant boss Alan Knill previews Tuesday night’s Sky Bet League 2 fixture against Oxford United at Sixfields, KO 7.45pm.

“We are looking forward to the game and we want to get Saturday’s loss out of our system as quickly as possible,” he said.

“The most disappointing thing on Saturday was losing to three set plays. We weren’t ruthless enough in both boxes, we are a team that studies the opposition and we all knew what to expect from Cheltenham but unfortunately we didn’t deal with their set plays which is one of their strong points.

“Oxford at their best are a decent team but it's up to us to be at our best to make it a tough game for them.

“We’ve seen that irrelevant of league positions anybody can beat anybody in this league, so it really is all about us being positive and not being too worried about the opposition because if we play well then the result will take care of itself.

“We are confident that we can compete in this league, the injuries are making it tough for us at the moment but despite all the injuries we think we are still in quite a strong position.”
