JOHN-JOE O'TOOLE JOINS SOUTHEND UNITED ON LOAN

27 November 2014

Midfielder makes loan move

Northampton Town midfielder John-Joe O'Toole has joined Southend United on loan until January 24th.

O'Toole, who arrived at Sixfields in the summer has made 20 appearances for the Cobblers but failed to find the net.

“We had a meeting with John-Joe to try and find out why we haven’t been able to get the best out of him and why he hasn’t been able to produce anything near what he is capable of," said manager Chris Wilder.

“He came up with the suggestion that he might fancy a loan move and I didn’t want to stand in his way.

“He can play against us and because Southend are out of the FA Cup and they have got two games against us in this period the deal wouldn’t have gone through otherwise and we were keen to bring Ollie Banks in. We needed to do this deal to bring Ollie in.

“As a manager you always pride yourself on the signings you make but for whatever reason some signings fly and some don’t.

“That can be down to various reasons but John-Joe will now get a batch of games now at Southend and we will discuss the situation again before the end of January.”
