Experienced defender joins the Cobblers
Northampton Town have signed the former Hibs, Plymouth and MK Dons central defender Mathias Kouo-Doumbe on a contract to the end of the season.
The 33 year old, 6ft 1in Frenchman, arrived in English football with Plymouth in 2004 after a spell north of the border with Hibernian. He spent 5 years in Devon, making 134 starts and a further 8 appearances from the bench.
In 2009 he moved to MK Dons and in four years with the Dons he made 122 starts and 19 appearances as a substitute, scoring 12 goals.
Known as a brave and committed defender who is excellent in the air, Town boss Aidy Boothroyd is pleased with his newest addition.
“Mathias is a very experienced defender who has played a lot of games,” said Boothroyd.
“It’s taken us a little bit of time to get everything sorted but he is the right one for us and that’s why we’ve waited a little bit of time to get him."
He has been allocated squad number 27.
