CHRIS WILDER PROUD OF PROGRESS

Cobblers boss on the improvements made after being six points adrift in February 2014

Chris Wilder has been reflecting on the last two years at Sixfields, a period of time that has seen the Cobblers rise from six points adrfit at the bottom of Sky Bet League 2 in February 2014 to now top the table.

“Everybody has worked extremely hard, we’ve had a big change around in personnel and style and results show where we were and where we are now,” he said.

“When you go into a football club you have to make the necessary changes that you think are right to put the club in the right direction and Alan Knill and I have done a lot of work on that.

“The mentality and the attitude of the players have to be right and we’ve got a really good group right now.

“We are all enjoying the position we are in, we didn’t enjoy the position we were in two years ago but everybody has worked extremely hard during that time to turn things around.

“We’ve had a few disappointments along the way but you have to stick to your beliefs and how you want the football club to be portrayed.

“I think you have to recognise the strides we’ve made and are making now, we’re leading a division full of quality, well supported and well financed teams, on merit and we want to finish the job off.

“Two years ago we showed fantastic form to get ourselves out of trouble and barring a few dips along the way we’ve been on the up ever since.”
