The Sky Bet League 2 weekend starts in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Saturday lunchtime when Cambridge United host Oxford United at 1215 BST.

Cambridge bounced back from three defeats in a row with a surprise 3-1 victory at Burton Albion last Friday night and Oxford claimed only their second league win of the season when they beat Newport County 1-0 the following day. Spirits should be pretty high in both camps but don’t expect a glut of goals. Two of Cambridge’s last three games have seen only one goal scored and there have only been three goals in Oxford’s previous three matches. Cambridge are 13/10 for the win and Oxford have been priced up at 2/1 but getting with Sky Bet’s 9/4 for under 1.5 goals could be the way to go.

Sky Bet League 2 leaders Bury travel south to AFC Wimbledon later on Saturday. The Shakers beat Tranmere Rovers 2-0 last weekend to move to the summit and are 7/5 with Sky Bet to return home with three points this weekend. AFC Wimbledon can be backed at 15/8 and the draw is a 12/5 shot.

Wycombe Wanderers and Burton, the sides in the other two automatic promotion places, also face away games on Saturday.

Gareth Ainsworth’s Wycombe are 6/4 to win at Morecambe, who can be supported at 15/8. Northampton Town provide the opposition for Burton. The hosts are 13/10 for the victory and the visiting Brewers are 2/1.

Luton Town and Southend United, who both sit in the play-off places, meet at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters have been made the 7/5 favourites by Sky Bet to pick up the win, Southend can be backed at 19/10 and the draw is available at 23/10.

Bottom-of-the-table Hartlepool United face a long trip down to Exeter City. Hartlepool are 3/1 to take three points back north but Exeter are the odds-on favourites at 10/11. Ollie Watkins, who scored for the Grecians in their Johnston’s Paint Trophy defeat at Coventry City in midweek, is 8/1 to break the deadlock in this match, but it’s Tom Nichols who tops the betting at 9/2. Charlie Wyke (13/2) and Marlon Harewood (7/1) are rated the likeliest to find the net first for the visitors.

Carlisle United also remain in the relegation zone despite an impressive 3-0 win at Hartlepool last weekend. The Cumbrians are 7/5 to win on Saturday when they host Stevenage, who can be backed at 19/10 for the three points.

Tranmere and York City both sit just above the relegation zone – although it’s clearly still early days in that respect. Tranmere, in need of a return to form after a recent quiet spell are 7/5 for the win as they host Plymouth Argyle (2/1), while York (2/1) travel to Newport (13/10).

Portsmouth (21/20), who can’t stop drawing games in the League of late, face Mansfield Town (13/5) as they bid to return to winning form.

Shrewsbury Town (19/20) host Cheltenham Town (3/1), with the home side’s top scorers James Collins and Andrew Mangan heading the first goalscorer betting at 5/1. It’s 10/11 that both sides score during the 90 minutes.

Finally, Accrington Stanley (11/10), who moved into the top half of the table when beating Mansfield 1-0 last weekend, tackle Dagenham and Redbridge (12/5). Jamie Cureton, who has spearheaded the visitors’ attacking threat this season, is 13/2 to net the first goal of the match and 2/1 to score at any point in the match. Stanley’s Sean Maguire heads the first scorer betting at 5/1.
