AIDY DELIGHTED WITH AWAY VICTORY

The views of the Cobblers boss

Boss Aidy Boothroyd was full of praise for his side after the 2-1 win at Aldershot, a result that sees the Cobblers move up into the automatic promotion places in npower League 2.

"The 140 odd fans who made the trip deserve a special mention," he said.

"To be honest I didn't think the game was going to go ahead and we didn't start very well but in the end I thought we played the conditions better and managed to take our chances.

"Aldershot are a tough side and it was difficult for both sets of players out there tonight.

"We've let ourselves down away from home this season and this is a good step in the right direction.

"We showed a lot of character tonight and we've got that in the squad.

"It was a long way from the sunshine in Croatia but these are the sort of games you look back on at the end of the season and think what a good three points that was.

"We've got a very long way to go and we are still nowhere near as good as we can be.

"I went with Clive Platt up front on his own, I get paid to make those decisions and it's something I enjoy. I have to look after him and Bayo and I felt this was the right decision for this game.

"Lewis Hornby stepped up to the plate again and I thought we looked very solid in midfield.

"There have been no formal offers for any of our players and unless we get a very, very good offer for any of our players we won't be getting rid of anyone.

"I'd like to end by congratulating Bradford City on getting through to the Capital One Cup final, I think it's a fantastic advert for our league and I'm really pleased for Phil Parkinson and his team."
