NORTHAMPTON TOWN SIGN PAUL ANDERSON

31 August 2016

Winger makes Sixfields move

Northampton Town are very pleased to announce the signing of former Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Swansea City, Ipswich Town and Bradford City winger Paul Anderson on a one year contract.

A player of proven pedigree, the 28 year old started his career at Liverpool, making more than 50 appearances in loan spells for Nottingham Forest and Swansea City.

A permanent £250,000 move to Forest followed, and he made over 100 appearances in his stay at the City Ground before moving to Bristol City. After a season at Ashton Gate he moved to Ipswich Town and made more than 70 appearances in two years for the Tractor Boys before signing for Bradford City. During his time at Ipswich he topped the club's 'assists' chart in the 2014/15 season and supporters started a petition to try and keep him at the club!

"Paul is a player of proven quality with a lot of Championship experience, and this is a good signing for us," said manager Rob Page.

"I have been pleased with the way we have started the season generally, and Tuesday apart we have looked solid defensively, but we have been looking to add more quality to our offensive play, and Paul will bring that.

"He has pace, he can deliver balls with quality and he creates goals for others. He is an out and out attacking threat, he offers genuine width, and he can play on either flank as required.

"He is a good age, he is a talent and he can create that moment of magic in a game that can make the difference.

""We have beaten off interest from other clubs to sign Paul and I think he will prove an excellent addition for us."
