JUSTIN EDINBURGH WANTS TO KEEP HOME FORM BUILDING AGAINST IN-FORM OLDHAM ATHLETIC

The Cobblers boss previews Northampton Town v Oldham Athletic

Cobblers boss Justin Edinburgh has challenged his team to continue their recent improved home form ahead of Tuesday night’s visit from Oldham Athletic.

“We’ve proved our home form with three consecutive victories and our mindset is to make that four,” he said.

“The crowd have played a major part in those three victories and I’m sure they will continue that for the rest of the games we’ve got here this season. They are a massive part of what we do this season and going forward.

“We are chasing that 50 points and these two home games this week give us a real opportunity to increase the margin to the bottom four.

“John Sheridan has done a fantastic job at Oldham, he’s lifted them off the floor and they are on a very good run. They are probably one of the in-form teams in the division and they will be a tough opponent.

“We know what to expect, they don’t concede many but they don’t score many either so the first goal could be pivotal.

“It’s not always about playing well - it’s about being ruthless. In periods of the game on Saturday we were well on top but we didn’t capitalise on our opportunities.

“To go in at half-time 1-0 down was a big blow and we probably never really recovered from that.

“We are creating lots of chances which is encouraging but if we are going to get to where we want to be we need to put teams to the sword when we are on top.”
