Strike at Leyton Orient nominated
The EFL has teamed up with Mitre and The Football on 5 show to give fans the opportunity to vote for their choice of the best EFL goal of 2016. After each club was invited to submit their best goal of the last calendar year and Football on 5 revealed the shortlist for the top 10 goals on Saturday’s show.
Among the contenders and named in the top ten is Ricky Holmes for his goal at Leyton Orient last February.

Voting closes at midnight on Tuesday 28 March when the 10 goals will be whittled down to five remaining contenders. The overall winner will then be decided on the night of the 2017 EFL Awards. This year marks the 12th anniversary of the event, which takes place at the London Hilton on Sunday 9 April.
