The Cobblers run of three away games on the bounce came to an end as they made their first ever visit to Rotherham's New York Stadium.

Adebayo Akinfenwa and Manny Oyeleke both came into the side with Clive Platt and Lewis Hornby dropping to the bench where they were joined by new signing Roy O'Donovan.

The first chance of the game fell to Akinfenwa but his low shot was saved comfortably by Andy Warrington. Lee Nicholls then pulled off a fine save to tip away a shot from Kayode Odejayi in the Millers first foray forward.

A swerving shot from Jake Robinson from 30 yards struck the post on 20 minutes with Akinfenwa unable to turn in the rebound. The woodwork played it's part again on 37 minutes when a cross from Rotherham's Liam Ridehalgh bounced off the cross bar.

The Millers were awarded a penalty on 40 minutes, Ben Harding adjudged to have fouled Mark Bradley. Daniel Nardiello converted from 12-yards to give the home side the lead.

Aidy Boothroyd made a change at half-time with Roy O'Donovan coming on to replace fellow debutant Manny Oyeleke.

Chris Hackett saw a shot saved by Warrington on 54 minutes as the Cobblers pushed forward.

Clive Platt replaced Jake Robinson on 70 minutes before Odejayi fired over after being set up by Jordan Slew.

Ben Pringle doubled Rotherham's lead on 75 minutes, the midfielder scoring with a low shot from just outside the Cobblers penalty area.

David Noble then increased the Millers lead, tapping home from three-yards after Nicholls had done well to deny Nardiello.

Clarke Carlisle grabbed a consolation goal deep into stoppage time, heading in off the crossbar from a corner.
